I can answer for Aaron: Seaguar and P-Line fluorocarbon line in 4lb test is approximately 5X. P-Line also offers a 2lb option that is 7X. The 6lb variety is about 3X. Remember the "rule of 11," 5X + 0.006in = 11, 6X + 0.005in = 11 and so on.
I don't really have any experience in using fishing line for tippett. Meaning like the stren, berkely etc....
Looking to save some money and looking for these equivlents in 3x,4x,5x and 6x.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I never heard that rule. Thanks for sharing

Alain,
The 3 guys who wrote that book are old friends of mine.
Martin lived close to me when l lived in Wales. Both these guys are good FFs, more so as stillwaters FFs. They fished for the English team a number of times.
Chris won the individual world championship and in his day held a very impressive record as a international fishing for England.
You will read of two stillwaters in the book, Chew and Blagdon, there was a time l fished those once a week, they were in there hay day great waters.
They were also the lakes the above 3 tuned there skills, and so did l.
Davy.
Davy,
Regarding the Cairncross et al. books, I figured as much, since you are mentioned and pictured in the books. I have learned much from the reading, but have yet to practice any stillwater myself. This should all change next week in Montana. Thanks again!
Alain
Alain,
That Seguar Abraz-x is the same diameter at the RIO. We tested it. I landed at least 10 trout over 20 inches today! It was a great day to say the least. I almost lost my fly line when a fish was crtwheeling downstream! I lost the fish but got the line. Too bad because that fish was at least 7-8 pounds! The biggest for the day today was a 25 inch bow and a 24 inch brown.
Aaron: save some fish for me.
Regarding the Seaguar, Aaron and I have been using both the Invisx and Abrazx in 2009. The Abrazx is their newest product, and best. It is about $20 for 200 yards, available at big box outlets. When it first came out, some of the line diameters quoted on the internet were grossly off. Seaguar's English to metric conversion equation was completely off. I contacted them and it was corrected on the main web-site (not sure about other vendor sites). It is excellent stuff, and the 4lb is just about an equivalent to Rio Fluoroflex Plus in 5X.
Ok, thanks gents.
I will be stopping at the Cabelas in Billings to look over their inventory. This time next week I will be on the Horn- can't wait!!!
Alan,
So the 6lb is a 3X or 4X? I think i will give this a try i love Rio but it just gets to expensive.
Fish On!!!
Flyfisher: Use Google to search Seaguar. Look here:
