I hate to disagree with Craig.

There are no secrets really, if it isn't being talked about here now it will be later, and it's probably already being discussed somewhere else as we speak. Good on you for sharing.

    Re: Wild Brown Heaven

Thanks Justin now I feel guilty. I wasn't on the Wallkill, every time I drive past that river it looks like the slowest moving mud hole there is. I think it gets stocked though so who knows it could be good.

I won't give away the location but I will tell you that the NY DEC has tons of info on rivers with wild fish populations and public acsess. I can also tell you that where I've been going you should never fish alone because the wading is tough, there are VERY deep holes, a very good bear population and supposedly mountain lions. You are also at least 1/2 hour from help at all times and your cell phone will not get a signal. You also need to be in at least decent shape and have a map or good sense of direction because it is a long hike from the car and a wrong turn will leave you out there for a VERY long time.

Sorry if I seem like a jerk and although Justin is right there are no secrets I learned my lesson over the winter. Over the winter I caught a large holdover and said where we were. The following weekend there were a decent amount of fisherman there (a ton for the winter) where the months before that I didn't see another person the whole time. So the info is out there you just need to find it.

    Re: Wild Brown Heaven

I'm pretty sure I know where you were.

I had a hard time believing that was the Walkill but I gave you the benefit.

    It's no big secret.

That place is protected by the retarded hike in.

    I won't blow your cover.

    Re: Wild Brown Heaven

Well thanks for the friendly help! I'm 4 plus hours from the river you mentioned and was looking for an idea of a general area not your favorite fishing hole. But way to try and send me on a day long goose chase.

I would have been happier with there is some good spots in eastern ---- county than your stupid BS.

    Thanks

Thats the place Juice and your right its no secret but I'm not going to give it away.

mdq: Alright I'll admit it wasn't funny and I shouldn't have posted it. Did you think I would post the name of the river after refering to it as the Catskill area? I can also tell you that if you are four hours away and you live in NY there is something just as good alot closer to you. Trust me if theres a river out there with a ton of big fish in it EVERYONE knows about. Just look at the WBD.

So lets leave it at that because I don't play internet fight.

    Re: Wild Brown Heaven

Alright, lets squash this. No big deal. I don't blame you for guarding a little. You already gave away all the info you need to find it, with just a min amount of effort.

mdq, if I were you, I wouldn't waste my time bickering on the internet. It seems to me there is plenty of info up here. I would call a local fly shop, like catskill flies and ask for a place with really good populations of wild trout where you have to hike in a considerable amount, there is no cell service, doesn't crowd that much, and doesn't get very hot in the summer.

It seems to me the info already up here about narrows it down to a fairly small number of "Catskill Rivers"

You could even find the spot if you took the time to search the site. Sometimes you have to do a little research and put the pieces of the puzzle together for yourself. Where in NY are you from?

    Re: Wild Brown Heaven

I'm not and wasn't looking for an "internet fight", just saying I didn't find it funny. Juice - thanks I'll look around shouldn't be hard with what you said. Blacklabel - thanks for the WBD sight, atleast, i had never heard of that before and it looks interesting.

    I'm from the Syracuse area.
