    Wild Brown Heaven

I hit up a Catskill area river today with my wife. This place is stacked full of browns and a few brookies. The flows were higher than average for this time of year but I wouldn't say high by any means. I still managed to go swimming once and bang up my knee and back pretty good though. It was well worth it though and we both caught tons of fish.

I think this ones been caught before.

Best fish of the day about 16''

I was a little bummed to catch these two to be honest. The second one was even a decent size but I was miles from anywhere they stock. Guess that high water really moved them around.

I wish I had got that on video. It was stupid to just a careless end of the mistake and the next thing you know I'm pouring water out of my waders.

I can't seem to go out lately with out swimming. :-[ I've been trying to decide if my waders leak so I can convince the better half that I need a new pair, but I end up in the water so much it never really matters!

Just remember its good to get it out of your system when its 80 degrees outside. Its no fun being wet when your start freezinf solid.

I got a few of those rainbows the last time that I was there. I wonder where they came from as I don't catch any rainbows that look like the anywhere else on the stream. I don't know anywhere that they are stocked below there either. Very strange. It looks like some "bucket" biology.

Its really weird. The smaller one had a nub fin a no color at all. The larger on had ok color but had some sore lips so who knows. I do know with the flows as high as they were it wouldn't take much to push them way down stream.

The Wallkill river. There is a DEC parking lot right by the Rt. 17 overpass.
