I thought those were your hands at first. I thought wow he has some pretty nails. ;D That is great you get the wife involved. My girlfriend doesn't like fly fishing.
I took the whole family to the Pequannock late today. we only had about a 1/2 hour of daylight. I rigged up my 10ft 4wt with a short line leader and a heavy stonefly anchor with a PT dropper. I then handed things over to my wife and let her have at it while I kept the kiddies happy. She had only done this one other time but she was looking like a pro. She hooked into three fish and landed one, a nice stocker rainbow. This was her first trout that was bigger than the palm of her hand. For anyone looking to get someone into fly fishing I don't think you can beat short line euro nymphing. Its very quick and easy to show someone how to do and you can usually feel the takes so they're catching fish right away and lets face it, its easier to show somebody how to do something if they've been having some success.

nice, It's great when you can get someone involved in fishing. I had almost the same scenario last week when my brother decided to tag along and come fishing. I rigged him up with a short line set up and he started catching fish. He really likes nymphing now and is coming fishing more often.

I am trying to get my wife to go. I think she'd do alright as far as fishing goes but getting her in the water "with all those nasty bugs in there" is going to present a problem. :P

Saturday we went back to the Pequannock and got a few more before making our way over to the gorge. Fishing at the gorge was very good as usual and we both caught our fair share of fish. My wife has is already very good at short lining so now I guess its time for her to throw the 30ft leader. ;D Fish at the Pequannock were hammering the stoneflies as always and every fish in the gorge to a PT.

looks like a good day. I always do very well at the gorge with those little grey scuds you tied up for me. its like the fish cannot let them pass them by.
You know I haven't tried them there but I'll give them a shot next time I go.
