    Farmington TMA yesterday 4/22/09

The river was a little cloudy . I fished during the heavy rain for a couple of hours and landed five.

The only fly that worked for me was the rubber legged stone fly. I fished Prince Nymphs , Cased caddis, Pheasant tail bh, hares ear bh, Iso nymph and yellow stone fly.I do not fish the river much because it is a two hour drive . I am going back Friday. Any suggestions for other flies to try would be appreciated

Try a pheasent tail on a scud hook flash back #18 -#16, prince #16 and hendrixson nymphs should be getting active and might produce in the am depending where you are on the river.

2 hours and 5 fish seems ok to me. Especially given that the average guys gets about one. You are on the right track with the flies and Heavy D's suggestions are good. What areas did you fish? When you didn't catch as many fish in the water types that you planned to fish, did you fish other water types? Don't think that because you continually catch them in the same spot fives times in a row that the sixth time will be the same. I fished an area last week from top to bottom. I caught only one fish until I hit the sweet spot. I landed over ten in the sweet spot before it shut down. I went back and tried what I call the B water and landed at least another ten fish. Don't assume the the fish aren't there just because you don't get them in the best water. They move around a lot.

I fished the deep tail section of Ovation and the fast water below. I was not unhappy with my catch rate but concerned that my fly selection was off as I was only catching fish on the anchor fly. Thank You Aaron and Heavy D . I am tying the suggested flies now and will be at it tomorrow.
