    Bergen County Native Brookies

Thats right, there are native brookies in Bergen County. The wife and I went out today. Thats also right my wife picked up a fly rod for the first time ever today. We both rigged up with short line euro setups. My wife picked up on the euro nymphing very quickly and had her very first trout in about an hour. All in all we had a great day, caught some fish, took some great pictures and had a nice relaxing day.

    Wife's first trout

Little guy I caught while laying on a boulder about 6 feet off the water

    Another real pretty fish

    Little waterfall

Can you believe this is Jersey and Bergen County at that?

I can't see the pics but I know where you were); Did you hike up to the big plunge pool? I caught a 14 incher there on an elk hair caddis when I was a kid.

Lopat: If she had actually got all of her fish in she would have out fished me today. I think the takes are taking her by surprise. Guess I won't give her first crack at the good water first anymore. ;D

RL: She had a really good time. We were going to go stockie bashing but decieded no crowds and sceanery sounded better.

Aaron: We hiked up to the big plunge pool and I worked it hard and didn't get a thing. 14 inches nice. I gotta get me one of those.

Stand at the tailout and fire a long cast into the whitewater! There are some really nice fish in there... Or should I say were? I hope people don't kill them. That stream is a true diamond in the rough. I am glad to hear good things about it.

It makes you wonder how many of these little jewels there actually are here in jersey.

Will do Aaron. I don't think people are keeping these fish. Thankfully most of the kill and grill guys are lazy and don't walk very far from their cars or at least thats what I've seen.

Lopat: I wouldn't say that there are alot but they are around just need to do the research and put in the effort.

There is another tiny stream here that runs off the other side of the mountain. I might have to go and check it out.
