Very well done! Is that a Vladi worm in the picture on the right side near the rod?
Given some concern over the recent fishability of the Farmington, figured I'd share the results of a enjoyable Monday afternoon in the TMA. After the previous few days, the weather was downright balmy, so with a surprisingly free afternoon I headed out and fished for a little over two hours. Had the entire stretch to myself, so I was able to hit about four or five good pools in short order. About ten minutes into the fishing I connected with the below beauty and received a surprising fight - you can see the stonefly in its upper lip. Subsequently, landed one more smaller brown and a few more hookups and flubbed takes. They seemed to be hitting the egg from the HRO 1/10 session, so perhaps the gentle takes combined with the small hook size and my talents conspired in the trout's favor. Temps were surprisingly varied, from 32 to 36 depending on the area.
It was an awesome and unexpected treat.

yes. The Vladi worm should consign split shot to the dustbin of history. It may or may not catch fish, but it certainly catches less rock.
Oh, it definitely catches fish! The bows especially love 'em, though I have caught some nice browns as well on them.
Nice fish, nicely colored.
By the way, how bad was the ice?
Steve
I spent most of my money on fishing equipment, beer and whiskey, the rest I just wasted.
Great fish!
What pools did you fish? and how was the ice?

turnoff on 181. Had to use low range, so I'd let it thaw a bit unless you have a serious 4x4. Ice was not bad at all, though the odd bits floating by me on the river were a bit disconcerting as they rumbled over riffles and broke apart.
Thanks I'll have to give the Farmington a try then. I've been waiting out the cold weather and tying flies like a bum, but now I want to fish!!
thanks, kyle

Wow, you mean that fly I showed you guys actually works?!? Damn, I might have to tie some up now....
Nice job, and a very nice looking brown. I think that now there are going to be some TPO members chomping at the bit to go fishing this weekend.

amazing enough, something other than a big clump of yarn works for egg patterns. BTW, I tried tying up a few of those with antron yarn and they sucked. I think you need a thread which absorbs water generating the translucent look.
Angora yarn is king for egg flies.
