Thanks to everyone at Trout Predator!

Over the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a number of customers that were purchasing beads from us at Wingaersheek Flies (www.wflies.com). We really appreciate your patronage and as token of that thanks, we'd like to offer a permanant special discount for those of you on TPO. We're offering free shipping and handling for all orders over $10.00.

To get the free S&G, at checkout, simply enter 'TPO' in the coupon section.

We also stock other items too and just starting carrying nymph stretch skin and chironomid braid.
I know there are other members here too (Davy & Steve) that you all frequent as well. I certainly respect that and them. I am not trying to be competitive, simply I just want to offer something special to this group as a way of saying thanks.

    Tight lines,
    John

Thanks! It is so great to see reciprocation in the supply/demand cycle! Almost like getting a buyback at the bar after only 2 bevvies!

    Re: beads

I am going to add this one thing here. Davy can get us the beads that we need quite fast I might add. You might get free shipping from the other guy. However is the other guy imparting years of knowledge that has been gained first hand? Davy shares with so much and I am grateful to him for that. I would never save a dollar just get something cheaper from someone else. A commercial for spin tackle works great here... "tackle without advice is only worth half the price." Please remember that quote when ordering. If Davy has what you need you better purchase from him >
If you find that Davy does not have then try wflies. Davy is such a great member here and gives us such great info to help us become better anglers. This is one way that we can give back to him to show our appreciation!

    Nutman,

That was the response that I was looking for. I am pretty sure that the guys here know the value of what you said! I just felt that I had to state the obvious!

    General materials question

    Hi all.
I have a few general questions about some materials.
    1. The beads I see on the flies....it has been years since I tied and now see the beads. Do they imitate anything
    2. How do you figure out what bead size to use. I see it in mm's and the numbers at this point are meaningless to me.
    3. Anywhere to buy them in small quantities..I have tied about 250 flies a year in the past and in all different sizes. If I buy a thousand for each hook size I will be freakin dead or tying them in the grave.
    4. Lead putty...I used to buy it and now can't find it. Is there anything that can be used..I tried this brown sticky stuff that would get brittle in winter and melt in my vest in summer...anything new know that is a substitute.
    5. And lastly, just what is HRO..I see it mentioned often.
    thanks
    Frank
Always leave a spot better than you found it,,we should always come home with some stream trash.

    Re: beads

    1. A black bead may imitate an insect head, i really don't see what a shiny gold, copper, or fluorescent bead could imitate.
    2.Bead Inch Hook

    (millimeter)

    1.5 1/16 24-20

    2 5/64 18

    2.5 3/32 16

    3 7/64 16-14

    3.5 1/8 14-12

    4 5/32 12-8

    4.6 3/16 10-8

This is just a general guideline of course.

    3. Davy will sell you beads in quantities of 100 I believe.

    4. I use split shot or heavy flies. Loon makes a product called Deep soft weight, that may be what you are looking for.

    5. Housatonic River Outfiters ;D

Hope I was able to help!
