    Farmington Trout in Pictures

    Go TPO!

    You may have seen these elsewhere; when they were displayed, we received many positive accolades and thank you. Here are 41 pictures of beautiful Farmington trout (and a little scenary) caught in the last year by the members of this forum. Pictures are in no particular order. Thank you all for supporting our site.

    I was also thinking that some newcomers to the site may not have seen these.

    Enjoy.

    Alanb, Aaron or anyone else with the great pics;

    What type of cameras are you guys using to get those great pics and resolution. Also what type of camcorders are you using for the videos?

    Thanks! We are still working on making good compositions, but I think Picture 4 is truly of the best FF magazine quality.

    I am currently using Canon PowerShot SX100IS at 8MP. I bought it based on a "best buy" recommendation from Consumer Reports. The image stabilization makes a big difference, especially at long zoom. Aaron uses an even better Sony camera of comparable resolution.

    Pictures 35 and 36 were done with a cheap Nikon at 3MP. For pictures 23 and 24, I used a Canon 20D digital SLR at 8MP, but I don't recommend carrying it around, except on special occasions, as it is hard to carry.

    Any of the newer digital cameras do a good job, but I have found that the ones with a lens that extends beyond the body of the camera works best. Most of the camera recording devices (CCDs) are similar, but the lenses make a big difference. I have the best luck with Canon and Sony. Aaron and I both had the waterproof Pentax Optio for a while and the underwater pictures were neat, but the regular outdoor shots were not quite as good.

    I don't know the specific video camera that Aaron or Justin uses.

    Alain, what a great collection and documentation of one of NE's best trout streams! thanks for displaying these.

    I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to contribute this one picture that I have, of my FIRST, and LARGEST brown that I've ever taken from the Farmington (just over the 20'' mark). As you can see, it's in the evening hours, and that was my very first trip to the river. Aaron and Tony gave me the "spot", and told me to cast "over there". I had no idea if I was casting in water, or land. The next morning we fished again, and I actually got to see what the river looked like! Will always remember that trip.

    Cheers to a great river.

    Looking at those pictures sure bring back lots of fond memories of some epic fishing trips.

    That river holds some truly stunning trout.

    mcarl,

    I am using a Sony Cybershot H50. It's only 9 megapixels but it has 15X zoom and the lense is phenomenal.
