    Rattling Run 5/24/08

    I was in the mood for some native brook trout fishing and explored Rattling Run. It is a tributary of Schuylkill River entering near Port Clinton, PA. It runs mostly through Weiser State Forest and PSGL 106. It was absolutely beautiful. I saw no other fisherman, only 3 hikers. I caught 18 native trout, only brook, no brown. It was the first stream that I have fished in that did not have a mix. The largest was just over 9", most were around 5-7". What a great day of solitude.

    On the way home, I stopped for an hour on the Cacoosing and landed a 17 1/2 rainbow on the same 7 1/2 4wt, that felt a little different.

    Woohoo Sholgate,

    You are just tearing it up. I fished Cacoosing once and there definitely seemed to be quite a few fish in there. Were you using your multiple rig style?

    Just two, like a weighted caddis type and a wine colored brassie. I think the rainbow was left over from some kind of rodeo or something.
