A friend of mine had off work yesterday, so we hit up Spring Creek around 11. We proceeded to murder fish one after another. Triple digits in about 2 hours. Sulphurs were trying to come off, but most were crippled and the trout were taking them just under the surface. We stuck to nymphs. Anything caught fish. Cased caddis, caddis pupae, flatworms, midges, sulphur nymphs, hares ears, pheasant tails, etc etc. We tried finding flies that didn't work, and it was impossible.
Steve and I then decided to hit Fishing Creek on our way home because Spring became boring real fast. Fishing Creek was good as well, but the bigger fish we were in search of didn't show up for the party. Landed a ton of 4"-6" wild browns and native brookies, but only a dozen or so over 12". Steve did get a nice hook jawed brownie. Hopefully I can get the picture up today sometime. Yellow Quills were coming off fishing. We caught everything there on March Brown nymphs and Stonefly nymphs.
BTW, if you plan on fishing Spring Creek this weekend, good luck. Virtually every lot above Bellefonte was full of cars. There wasn't an open spot at the Paradise when we drove up there, for a Thursday afternoon!!!! Definitely Sulphur time on Spring.....
