I am sure many of you are wondering how the trout in the Housy are doing? They are in great shape! This Evening trout were rising EVERYWHERE! The hatches were heavy and the trout are very happy. I would venture to say that we have lost very little trout. The only trout that we have lost would be to predators such as birds. The anglers have been doing a great job fishing for other species while the temps are on the warm side.

The good news is that with the exception of a few hot days the water has stayed very comfortable for the trout. From what I have been told and seen there are not too many trout in the refuges. This is a great sign that the main river is not too warm and the trout are not all pooled up. Before I went home this evening I stopped at a very popular spot.... and no I was not in the Park. I caught a few trout on usuals. I could have really hammered them if I had all of my bullets... but unfortunately someone else has them ??? If the weather pattern continues the fishing this fall should be off the hook! There were trout rising as far as the eye could see. I am not talking about a few either. I am talking about dozens of fish. When the Fall fishing gets good you better be up here. All of the trout I caught showed no signs of lack of eating and we all in good healthy shape. We are almost to the halfway mark and by now the worst is usually behind us. Keep your fingers crossed that we keep on getting these cool temps. ans shots of rain!
