the fishing for the larger holdover fish has been really slow.... unless you happen to be in the three spots that are good right now. the bigs have been hatching really well but there have been few or no fish rising for them... again if you are in the few good spots the fishing can be good. the only problem is that the spots that are good have about as many people there as there are trout rising. the state stocked a supposed 9,000 trout this week.... from the estimates that i have heard it looks to be more like 5,000, 7,000. what a joke. we complain here in nj but in ct they are not even in the game. they stock about two thirds of the trout that they are supposed to. the fishing will be really good for the recently added trout. a few freinds of mine have been floating the river and catching between 0 and one fish prior to the stocking. however, when they get near the end of the float the fishing picks up and people have done quite well. lets hope that the trout come out of hiding. they were there before the last flood. maybe the upcoming spinner falll will bring them out of hiding. let's keep our fingers crossed that sme of those holdover fish... that we know are in there start to show themselves.
