Unions are the primary method of redistributing wealth . The big breakthroughs for working people in the U.S ( the forty hour work,week,child labor laws, minimum wage standards) and much more have been achieved by Unions. Union membership is up in the U.S for the second year in a row. The current economic mess we are in came from corporate greed. It was interesting that when the auto industry was in trouble the strongest attack was against the auto workers wages and benefits not excessive management compensation. I agree the Union movement has made mistakes but those pale in comparison to the concentrated attacks made by corporate America against the living standards of working people. Every working person in this country owes the union movement a debt for their standard of living . The unfettered market will deliver profits to the greedy few . The Unions are part of the solution not the problem.
