    Little Lehigh 3/24

    Hi all,
I'm new to trout predator and love the site. Fished the Little Lehigh today and it was high and off color. Not too much pressure at all due to the conditions but the fishing was difficult. Finally resorted to throwing huge articulated yellow streamers and guess what...little fish like big streamers. Caught some nice ones too but it was fun to see some little ones chase those big flies.

thanks for signing up. i thought the same thing when i started fishing streamers there. you think to yourself big streamer=big trout. im many scenarios thqats true. for some reason on the little lehigh you get a lot of smaller fish even when using 4 and 5 inch long streamers. i would think that the streamer fishing for the bigger trout in there will pick up once the water warms into the fifties. a lot of the really big trout that are in there are m most likely lethargic right now and feed very sporadically.

True enough. the water was only forty eight. It was my first trip to the LL and I was looking forward to some BWO or midge action but the streamers were fun too. It was tough to chuck those big boys on a three weight though!

incidentally, that three weight is a March Brown 7 foot 7 peice travel rod. I'm quite pleased with it's performance.

Although ask Nymphmeister about that. He decided his first time there he wasn't going to adhere to such silly state laws.

There are several fishable miles of the Little Lehigh and only a small fraction of that is no wade. I think it's about a half mile in the park. Just where you find all the crowds. If you go upstream there is some great water that can be waded and sees relatively little pressure. If you go to the LL fly shop and spend a buck or two and ask them for some info away from the park they would probably help out.

Of the several fishable miles of the LL, how much of it is open year round?

the cherry lane c and r section is open all year and it is about 2 miles. this is in addition to the heritage section which is a little over one mile in length. trout5 is right if you go waling around you can find plenty of nice wild brown trout as well as stocked fish throughout the entire length.
