    columbia county

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good spots to fish around bloomsburg, im a 5th year super senior at the university and have been up and down fishing creek all through columbia county and only have 3 fish in the creek since september. The owner of fishing creek angler (the local fly shop) said that ever since the flood a few years ago there are very few fishing left from what used to be a great creek to fish. I know around the Lock Haven area its still pretty good but no luck in bloom. Idea??

I went to Bloomsburg for a few years! I used to live in Montour Hall. Some crazy parties there!!! Fishing Creek used to be very good. However, now you need to be going to thr State College area as the streams are limestone in nature and offer stable and somewhat warmer water temps. Try Spring Creek, Big Fishing Creek or the Little J. Between those three streams there are 43 miles of great trout fishing. If you add Penns Creek to the list you are over 50 miles of high quality trout fishing within a 1.5 hour drive!

what areas of fishing creek in bloom did you fish? I have mostly been up by the boy scout camp in benton because the guy at the fly shop says that is where he has had the most success but Id like to try somewhere else if you have any suggestions?

I would fish dries in the large flat pool right below the the large concrete bridge on the main road going north from school. Its a killer spot and it comes alive during a hatch. I would also fish in this little town. I think the name is Orange? There is a small dam there and the pockets and riffles below it are killer. I would also fish an area right nest to a bar. There was a bridge there that has a piling in the middle. The pool there was really good and walking upstream was also quite productive. I would also fish the Catch and Release section. The most fun that I had there was right after a flood when that small hatchery lost all the big fish that were in the pond there. I think that it was close to a golf course.

I have some other good spots in mind. I will look at google maps and find the names of some of the other streams that I fished.
