Thanks!!!

Will do when I get home. I am out fishing!
The recipe is as follows:
Hook: TMC 100 SPBL sizes 10-20
Rib: Black copper wire size small
Dubbing: Mix of Davy Wotton SLF 3/4 brown caddis, 1/4 orange silver midge and a touch of chopped up Ice Dub in brown
Wingcase: black thinskin
Legs/tails: Speckled hen
Have at it!
Aaron:
- Thanks for the information.
- Am looking for the Davy Wotton SLF packages, as I don't want to buy the entire
cube thingie.

John,
That dubbing is hard to find! I bought the cube myself and it contains some of my favorite dubbing. A while back, I believe Nymphmeister (Torrey) had a way to find it in the small packages.
Aaron-
Any good substitutions for the SLF Masterclass for those who cannot find the product?
A Redneck's last words, "Hold my beer while I do this...."
All:
- You'd think Wapsi would sell refills for those cubes.
- My problem is that I like to tie 100 or so of a pattern at one time (usually over the
course of a week). I'm afraid the SLF Masterclass cubes don't hold that much dubbing.
At least that's my opinion.
- I have a bunch of Scintillia in individual packets that I might try to use.
- On a side note ... I found Crown Condoms on Amazon.com for $2.00/12 so grabbed a
few packs. Can't wait to try the Vladi Worm in the Little Juniata (near my parent's house)
next year.
Thanks!!!

John,
You would be surprised how much dubbing is in each cell of the cube, much more than you think. If you tie sparsely dubbed bodies in a size 18 or so, my guess is that you can easily get that many flies.
You tie 100 at a time? Do you guide? That's a lot!
Alan:
- No ... I don't guide. Just another fanatic ... been fly-fishing for 20 years now. Lord how
time flies.
- Regarding fly-tying. I get in these motivational spurts now and then, and therefore
maximize my efforts and crank out the flies. After about three or four weeks of tying ... I
get bored (or something with work comes up) and I put the stuff away for a few months.
- I strictly nymph fish, so tend to lose alot of flies. My favorite style of fishing is standing
in the middle of the stream and banging flies right against the bank. I lose quite a few
flies either in the shallow water or by overshooting and hitting the bank. However, this
method of fishing is extremely effective in the afternoon when the browns (wild ones) lay
near the banks of the stream. I know it works great on Spring Creek (Centre County, PA)
as well as the South Platte (Dream Stream Section in Colorado).
- I grew up in Pennsylvania and then lived in Colorado (2001 - 2003) and am now
wrapping up nursing school here in Syracuse, NY. Yeah, I decided three years ago to
quit the computer software industry and try nursing. Got tired of the Dilbert cubicle
lifestyle and one day just walked out the door ... no notice, no nothing. Never regretted
the decision. I currently work as a travel-LPN nurse (bouncing between Syracuse and
Providence every other week). In the meantime, I am hitting the books for an online LPN
to RN class. Hope to grab the RN degree and license in June ... then move back to
Pennsylvania.
- You can tell I'm bored. It's pouring rain here in Syracuse this morning. Am currently tying
up some Oliver Edwards style cased caddis (without the legs, and without the weight).
Am making the deer hair dubbing brushes this morning ... so big mess everywhere.
- I may see if the local fly shop here (The Troutfitter) has those SLF dubbing blocks.
Gotta run....
