Brodhead Creek / Lacawanna River

Fished the Brodhead yesterday at Yetter Park. Water was low. Caught two rainbows and a brown. Bounced a few small browns. Fished my usual rubber leg stone and a small BWO. Headed to the Lacawanna river in Jessup in the afternoon. Fished the stone and BWO to start with. Had some takes but failed to hook. Broke off a decent fish shortly after. Should have checked my tippet. Saw some fish rising to caddis so I switched over to a caddis. Landed two browns on the on a the dry with a few misses. Water was on the low side and 64 degrees.

Ericfred, dont know what you nymph with but i use 5x only on the lackawanna, i even fish dry fly 5x only and i stiill do well. its a trade off, but you cant catch em if you break em off...thats my philosophy. i all but stopped breaking fish off. Some of those 15 inch and bigger brown trout have shoulders and they are famous for busting tippets....

Dyberry, Im mostly using 4x and 5x. I believe I had 5x on the other day. May have had some nicks in the tippet I failed to see. Yes some of those 15"ers got some fight in em'. I remember when I was using my 6wt I was breaking more fish off sue to the extra backbone in the rod. Since then I got myself a decent 4wt 10' rod. Does seem to protect the tippet more. Also got a 3wt 9'6". Bought Arrons video last year and learned a lot. Definitely hooked better quality fish lately.

Cool, yeah i also bought Aarons DVD and Dynamic nymphing by George Daniel...very good for leader construction as it is in text rather than on video. Good luck next outing DB
