I fished the Mansfield Creek from downstream of the fire hall to up stream of the Maples Rd bridge. This is the stream I grew up on and I hadn't fished it for 13 years. It was amazing. The stream has a very gravelly base so it has always changed from year to year. I didn't know what to expect when I got there. In two hours I picked up about 10 wild rainbows. The biggest was about a foot. I missed hooking up with at least a dozen more, including one that was fat and at least 14 inches. No monsters but you need to understand that this stream averages only about 10 to 15 feet in width. In CT I believe it would be classified as a WTMA. There is nothing like wetting a line on the stream you grew up on after more than a decade. The fish remembered me and responded appropriately. If you are ever in the Salamanca/Olean/Ellicotville area, I recomend that you try the Mansfield. Call me if you want more information.
