    Z-Axis and VT2

Looking for a new rod, an all around 5wt

Anyone use both or have comparisons on either?

I have cast the Z-Axis and liked it, have not cast the VT2 but hope to soon.

    Thanks!

The vt2 rod is a bit slower, you can feel the rod load lower towards the grip then the z.(vt2 Med Fast)You need to cast both rainbow.. I actually liked the vt2 the only thing that turned me off was the color of the blank

The Sage z-Axis is rather pricey however, very light in swing weight and quick recovery. The rod is not as fast as the previous XP series and is smoother casting than the XP.

We have a fantastic selection of fly rods today, any rod will be fine with the correct line selection.

Ya for sure...gotta get my hands on the vt2 and compare...

That blue color is a bit off, but I do have a funky Ross reel that might suit it well.

Might be my mission this weekend to try one out.

My current 5wt is a TFO axiom, which I think is on the fast side...

    Thanks.

The z is pricey, but tons of people have them becuase they are good rods..Its like 200 more than the vt2. I would rather the z becuase it fits my casting stroke better then the slower rod, but remember the vt2 is still med fast.. Its the blue that ruined it for me!! Id rather pink Test them out this weekend rainbow and let us know what you find..

    Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone else recently has checked out the VT2. I had cast one last year and liked it a lot, and am thinking of building one. If anyone has any experience with them, I'd appreciate it.

I have a SAGE VT2 9 foot 6 inch 5 weight. It's an awesome rod. I landed the big fish on the West Branch with it. Even though it's permanently retired I will never get to of it!
