Valentine's Day 2010

This was the perfect "men's' Valentine's Day! Rich didn't have to spend it with his girlfriend and Kristen 't gracefully agreed to fish with us! What more could I ask for. I think that the only thing that she did not like was the long drive and staying in a hotel in the middle of no where in Western PA.

We met Rich at 10. He was ready to catch some fish! He was even all suited up at the parking area and ready to go. I was the slow person getting ready. I guess that 4 days fishing in a row can do that to you

This year was a lot better than last year for Kristen at least She did not do that backstroke. She stayed dry. Rich on the other hand almost did a full submersion! He slid off the bank and somehow gained his balance and did not go totally in the water. He held his camera in the air that would make the Statue of Liberty holding her torch proud!

We all caught fish today and some big ones too. We all fished indicator style nymphing rigs. Eggs, micro nymphs and sow bugs all worked today.









I have to get to bed. One more day of fishing to go!

Awesome as always Aaron! I don't even have a girlfriend at the moment, and I couldn't go fishing today! I will be back at it tomorrow, and with a little luck and lots of snow and ice, on Tuesday too!

Question for you: I noticed you were using a Z-Axis for the indicator fishing. What size rod is that? I was wondering if you fish the 10' plus Euro rods for indie fishing, or do you use a standard 9 footer? I would think that mending and line control would be great with the 10'. I have yet to purchase a longer rod, so I stick with the 9' 4 wt. for all my fishing now, but I was curious to see which rod you use and why.

Just curious Aaron, when you indicator fish, do you normally use a fly rig or multiple flies? Winter time seems like indicator style fishing is the way to go.

I am generally using two nymphs when I use indicators.
