I couldn't bear the long drive to Cornwall in Memorial Day traffic, so I went to the lower part of the river more locally. It's a nice little stretch, definitely very fishy-looking. I used to fish this area a lot when I was young for perch with my Dad. Anyway, I caught a few bass and one 10in trout. There was a few small fish taking caddis, but I could not see much insect biomass in general. The water temp was 62deg. It was fun until I waded out of the river, the rocks are incredibly slippery there, even with my cleated felt soles. I took a bad spill and dislocated/maybe broke my finger; I just came back from the shoreline emergency room-no big deal. Here's a few pictures, I hope the last one is acceptable...it's not for the faint of heart, but probably better than having a Size 2 streamer in the neck! I'll be back out soon, once I get clearance from an orthopedist. It's ok, I wouldn't trade the time out early this morning for anything, what a nice fishing weekend for all.
