A buddy and I fished Spring from 1:15 until 4:30. The snow was already falling when we arrived at noon, which made for a very pretty but cold day on the stream.
Earlier in the week, the higher water and runoff had the fish shut down pretty good. We were hoping that with more stable temperatures and no more freezing runoff, the fish would cooperate......and they did!
With no other anglers on the stream, we had the fish to ourselves. Strangely enough, though, we didn't move more than 100 yards the whole time. We hit a motherload right off the bat and pounded them for 3 hours.
The standard flies worked well...Walts Worm, Cress Bug, PT, HE and Caddis. We landed a brown and rainbow at 15", and I ended my night with a 17" bow in a heavy snowfall. I can't say we would have asked for much more. In fact, we plan on going back out tomorrow, weather willing.
