Looking for simple fly patterns

Hello all, I just started tying flies myself and I'm looking for killer patterns like the {FireFly} that Aaron tied as fly of the month. I have had great success fishing with it for the stocker brookies and bows here in NJ. I also tied some Zebra midges and had great results fishing them. So can anybody help me out with some simple patterns to start tying now that I'm hooked , and also catching trout on my own flies that I tied.Thanks in advance SP

Tie the "firefly" with copper, gold and black beads! Try the 265 nymph. Also, tie up the Czech style caddis that Alain did a video of. All of those should keep you busy for a bit!

You can't get much easier than some simple wingless wets. Here's a few I like, and they should get you started.

Hope these will help you. Remember that these are wets, but they can be fished in the film or just below. Do a little search on fishing soft-hackles or wingless wets.

I really like the hare and copper pattern. I tie it in size 14 and 16. I use a 2.4mm tungsten bead, pheasant for the tail, small copper wire rib and hares ear dubbing. I usually sub the hares ear for SLF squirrel in either light ginger or dark brown. It works best if you touch dub the body, the video Aaron mentioned that Alain did shows you how to touch dub.

Including zebra midges, Walt's Worms and Green Weenies (I prefer using strips of furry foam instead of chenille) are the easiest and most productive flies I that I use in central PA.

Lately I've had really good luck with a brown cased caddis fly that was shown on a post here not too long ago. black tungsten bead with copper wire, brown dubbing, for the casing and maybe ginger dubbing for the head. Also try it without the bead. I must have caught atleast 20 trout on that fly on Monday. Tied from size 8-14.

Have fun with it. I really like the flies of the month too. They are easy to tie, and they are the "guide" flies which are effective/easy to tie/and most importantly catch fish.

Thanks all, I'll also check out all them fly of the month vids. I noticed on one fly it calls for thin skin. Where can I find a place that sells it in NJ?

Hmmmm. Ramsey outdoors sells it? I asked them in Ledgewood and they had no clue. They thought it was a hiking product????
