My bro and I fished the Gorge this morning. The road was closed so we hiked a bit from both ends. The water was a little up but the fishing was good. Streamers were a lot of fun as the brookies would rise from murky depths to smash at them. We were stripping zonkers and they were nailing the rabbit strip but not many were hitting the hook. Too bad I didn't have any Heifer Groomers on me, we would have caught them all! We caught some nice rainbows too, but those were on nymphs. We saw a few other fishermen but the cut off access seemed to discourage many anglers. HMMm maybe they should close that road all the time One bad thing. I lost my nymph box with about 40 nymphs in it. It must have fallen out of my vest while I was releasing a fish. A nice System X box. What a fool I am :'( I think I hear my vise laughing at me.

It will look like this on your page before you post. Make sure there is a open bracket at the beginning and a close at the end. I had to take them out so this would appear on your screen.

Mike, you will find several adaptations of the original, which was credited to Dan Byford.

Basically, a lot of flies tied with a single strip of rabbit fur, attached at the front and rear of the hook are called zonkers.
