    The Vexis

Anybody try the Vexis? Not looking for a new reel just wondering if anybody has had any experience with this reel?

I don't own one yet, but I am sure that will change soon. I was playing around with one at the fly shop near me. It was very similar to the Evolution, with the difference being the wider spool, which makes it weigh a little more. It looks quite "high tech" as well. I liked it enough to get a few of those rather than the Evolution next time I purchase reels.

I haven't fished one yet, only had it "in hand" and played around with it, but I have to say I was impressed. I agree with everything Aaron said, and I like the way it uses a magnet to retain the spool, which is a very simple yet effective way to do that.

Yeah, it's a cool little feature, if you slide the spool part way on, when it gets near being all the way in the magnet pulls it the rest of the way in. They tested it extensively with no problems at all. I'm sure a lot of people will buy one just because they are new, they look very modern, and the magnetic spool retention is just plain cool.

Are you going to carry them at HRO? I might be tempted to get one for the new greys ;D
