To my friends at TPO:
Pardon the melodrama, but I have decided to resign my role as moderator. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and talked it over with Aaron and Justin today. I harbor no ill will towards anyone; I love this place and all of you. My plan is to focus on producing the best content for the site, on my own timetable.
I first met Aaron at HRO in June 2007 and consider him my good friend. Along with my father, Aaron is my finest fishing instructor, and the best one you could hope for. As you know, I have adopted most of his methods, and fervently support whatever he pursues. Before I met Aaron, I was strictly a dry fly and streamer fisherman. From the first time we fished Church Pool at the Housatonic that day in June, I have fished nymphs 95% of the time. I value his instruction beyond words can explain. I always tell Aaron that people come into your life right at the time when you need them most and this is certainly true in this case. I had fished my whole life, and fly-fished for 20 years, but I never really understood Mother Nature’s rhythms on the trout stream.
This is not an epilogue, of course, as I plan to continue making great memories with Aaron and all of you. It is however, a statement that I am lessening my “duties” at TPO.
So today, I ask Justin or Aaron to “reduce” my rank to “TPO Faithful” from “TPO Moderator.” When I was young, my mother always said “Les grandes pensées viennent du coeur” which means “the greatest thoughts come from the heart” and I close with that.
