    Managing problem forum members

    Guys,

What our policy here? I'm not clear how to proceed.

I sent Neithan a "warning #1" about personal attacks. I think if he requires a second warning, he should be banned. I see you locked the thread and that's good.

    Aaron, Justin: what's your opinion?

That Neithan guy seems like he came on just to argue & start problems, I get a bad vibe from him.

In baseball, it's 3 strikes and you are out. If he didn't already have a 100% record of being a jerk (4 out of 4 posts), I'd apply the 3 strike rule. I think in his case, you are correct to give him one warning and then ban him if he gets personal with Dejon (or someone else) again. Wonder why this guy is being like that, I mean Dejon has always seemed to be a very accurate, honest guy, and I'm sure he is giving us a truthful version of what happened & what he heard.

So in general I would go with the 2 warning and the 3rd time you are out as a TPO policy.

I read through his posts. OK, maybe not the best way to get things going for him. Most of the people on here are cordial when first getting into the mix. On the other hand, he wasn't that bad in his replies in my opinion.

Maybe give him another shot or two to see if he can add anything positive. But if he goes on being a jerk, then... well Alain, you have the power. ;D

Dave: I am trying not to let all the power go to my head!

I will admit, though, that I am not good at handling confrontation. That job is best left to Aaron, who handled it perfectly in this case.

I don't think "Neithan" will be bothering us any longer anyway. He sent me a PM saying "just ban me i don't care. hang with liars all you want."

Thanks for all of your help managing the forum and your ideas.

I just sent a PM to Sammy asking him to get back on the board. ;D

Thank you for locking that thread "I guess i'm confused" by Neithan.

That fellow seems to have an agenda. We have only locked a handful of threads in the past year, but in the past week, we've locked three, all because of him.

The reality is that as we grow, we will have to deal with this sort of thing more often.

Sorry, I've been out of the loop... I've been with my girlfriend's family in Illinois for the holidays, I haven't really had much personal computer time.

I'm going to try and catch up and then ring in.

Thanks for keeping an eye on things Alain.

Justin: I didn't really do anything, Aaron does the heavy lifting.

We decided to simply remove Neithan from the forum. I also banned his domain so he can't come back without a serious workaround.

dude you are such a disappointment to me. a little debate about technique and you get all banny. you would of looked better to make some debate points but now you just look dumb and incapable of defending your decisions in a polite manner. tell the guy from hro that i'm glad i made an impact on him. good luck with the website and at least have the decency to remove my hendrickson post if you won't let me play with yous guys. such a disappointment...

Here was my e mail response:

You don't want to debate at all. You want to bash other people. Maybe this makes you feel better about yourself. I am sure it can't be good for your shops reputation. That's why I took no time to respond. You are not worth the effort. I have better things to do than debate BS on a website.you never win with someone as thickheaded and bullish as you are.

    Cheers!
