    Hey Alain and Mike

Too bad you couldn't have gone up there today. They raised the flows to a release of 550 cfs. How did you guys make out yesterday? I saw that the river was REALLY low. That makes for the toughest of fishing conditions.

We did fish today and Friday. The fishing was good on the WBr. Flow was 250 on Friday and 550 today. Nymphing was difficult, because of all the grass and moss in the water. We caught about 10 fish, biggest one was just shy of 18in. I broke off a larger fish today. Morning fishing was slow, afternoon/evening pretty good. The sulfur hatch is quite steady. We also saw Isonychia, Tricos and some big yellowish bugs (Yellow Drakes? I don't know). Today we saw a spectacular bald eagle. The river is quite crowded. I will post a few pictures when I get a chance. Have fun tomorrow, if you go.

Hey Aaron, on Friday the wind was gusting all day long, tough to get a good cast and drift. Alain had the right fly for the rising fish on Friday afternoon and evening. Unfortunately he only had one of them, but he was kind enough to let me catch one fish on it. Similar to the half in half out fly with a shuck. I landed five fish total for the two days. I caught one one an olive bunny streamer and the rest on top. The sulpher hatch was really strong on Friday afternoon and evening.

Five fish is nothing to be disappointed with up there. Yeah those fosh reallly key into a certain stage of insect and its really hard if not impossible to get them to take something else. He said that you guys gad some nice fish. Did you hook a rainbow yet? They go nuts when you hook them. When are you guys going up next? If you are there when the water is up its a whole different fishery.

No rainbows. Even the browns go nuts. They fight alot different than the fish in the farmy and the hous.

    Re: Hey Alain and Mike

I'll arrange to get some pictures up soon. My Pentax Optio WP isn't working, so I am relying on Mike. On Friday in the middle of all the action I packed my raincoat in my vest, but not my net. Mike was kind enough to wade over several times to net and photograph my fish...what a guy! I was using 7X at the time since it was sunny and the water was only 230cfs. I did manage to hand land some of the fish too. I should have tried using 6X and lengthening my tippet. Sometimes I forget to practice what I preach!

It was a classic fly-fishing error, I only had two of the killer flies. The first one broke off in the mouth of a fish, so I carefully fished the second one for at least two hours, retying after each fish and so on. It kept producing, it was quite remarkable. Funny thing is that after landing the near 18in fish, I dropped the fly in the water at Mike's feet. We both watched as it disappeared in to the dark water. Fly-fishing error #2...I didn't bring the tying stuff.

On Saturday morning, we bought a few flies from the shop that also worked, but maybe not as good. It was simple, I looked in the sulfur bins that only had a few flies and bought those. There were 6 left in the bin, and we nearly bought them all (expensive too, $2.50 each!). On Saturday, I found a very gentle sipper right near shore and got him to take on the first drift. What a fish! One explosive jump, one super run, then, ping...broke him off on the 6X. That fish was probably around 20in, but who knows. The fish were amenable to 6X in the higher water.

It was a great trip, I hope to be back soon.

What a cool river. The fish there are like nothing I have ever fished for before. I am so genuinely impressed with the trout. I have an addiction. I told aaron to pick the next day and I will clear my schedule for it. Looks like thursday is the day. I'm so excited!
