I would bet that the Little J is well above 70 right now. I'll make a call to one of my friends just to check. This weather is brutal. Maybe try the Clarion, the water temps there are at good levels.
Will be fishing the Little J from the 21st to the 25th near Barre. Anyone know current stream conditions and whats hatching this late in the season? Will be staying at the Greene Hills campground and fishing in that general area. How is the night fishing w/ mice and big streamers on this river?
thanks,
John

I was worried about that. Looks like I'll be bringing my 7 wt and doing a bunch of smallie fishing on the Big J. Prob would catch more bass anyways!

This time of year, smallies rule! Have fun.
I was down stream of there near Huntingdon last weekend with my wife fishing for small mouth. You may want to change species for a few weeks. Just an idea. I have never targeted small mouth and having a blast.

Ya I went to college in Huntingdon, have a lot of secret smallie spots in that area. Normally however i'm throwing live bait like helgramites or stone cats. Havn't done a lot of flyfishing for them. Will deff give it a go next week. I'll be down on the river near Mount Union if your in the area.
Just read this on another site:

I use to fish helgramites and stonies or stone cats caught in middle creek or lower penn's and fish for smallies on those two streams. On the Susquehannie both the smallies or walleye went wild for those natural baits.
Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
