coiled mono sighter using a pen and drill

Just made a coiled mono sighter using a bic pen, a 5/16 " rubber washer, and a drill. I pulled the ink cartridge out of the pen and drilled a small hole in one end of the pen. I then used a uniknot to secure the mono at that end. Next, I put the pen in the chuck of my drill and proceeded to wrap the length of the pen with the mono. When I filled the whole pen, I cut the mono and put the 5/16" rubber washer over the tag end of the mono to keep it from uncoiling. Boil and freeze. I imagine there is enough mono on the pen for several sighters.

This is Alain Bathelemy's idea, but I thought I would share it since I gave it a try and it worked pretty well.

That's the best way to make them. It seems like a lot to do just to make indicators, but if you make ten of them, you won't have to do it again for some time!

That method works real well and seems the favorite of most.

I still prefer wrapping the dial though. I can leave tag ends on the sighter which helps me with the knots. Don't have to knot a curly cue that way...
