expansion of fly fishing destinations list

If we look at the section on destinations, we are developing a localized group of posters interacting together in each state. It is tied in to the main site by the most recent posts column. However, these localized enclaves within the main site are appealling to say a person in Pa who doesn't have any interest in whats happening at the Farrmington River in CT.( Nor should he ever need to! ) We may want to consider adapting to this tendancy by some how creating a pop up window for each state abreviation. This would not take up too much room and enable guys from each state to easily interact and also provide a resource for the rest if they so choose. As it is now if a person from Massachusetts stumbled onto TPO and he noticed that there were no others from his state tallking about that which he was familiar with, maybe he doen't come back. We may be in the position to be a resource for a much broader national membership. I know we have regional catagories like Western region etc, so maybe I am not really onto something here but I just thought I would throw that out there to you guys. I think also that as an example, lets say you pick one state and add it to the list of destinations,( Massachusetts for example). Then Aaron and others start fishing it and posting about the trips at a variety of rivers. It seems to me that the destination of Massachusettes would then breath its own life on the site. Thus growth occurrs.

We have 40 plus topics... I think that's too many at times. Mass is included in the NE.

Gotcha! But keep the concept of pockets of similar interest groups in mind for possible future implimentation. It may not be applicable as I suggest, but down the road there may be some use for the concept..
