    The mighty Rockaway River 5/14/2007

    met up with my buddy john tonight to do some fly fishing close to home. fishing was surprisingly good. we didn't catch a ton but we got them all on dry flies. it was a really good time. there were tons of march browns and march brown spinners, there were also caddis, light cahills, some small bwos and surphers.... man this stream is fertile. we ended up lading at least ten between the both of us with a few more lots. great evening of fishing with a good buddy. all fish were caught on march brown comparaduns or spinners. all of the trout were browns and rainbows... nothing too big either but i cant stress how good a time we had and it was within 10 minutes of home!!!

    Sometimes the close by home spots give you the best fishing. You get to know them really well, and can hit them when it's good. I can't tell you how many times I've traveled somewhere new to fish a new or "better" river, only to come home and have a better time and better fishing on my home waters.
