    One Handed Spey Casting Instruction

    Hello,

I am new to this board so first off let me introduce myself. I live in a suberb of Buffalo, NY. I target Steelhead with my flyrod about 7- 8 monthes out of the year, and I am borderline obsessed with everything that has to do with fly-fishing, tying and fishing in general. Now that is out of they way, here is my question....

I picked up a 10 ft 8 wght Sage Fli this past fall and the rod has some good backbone to it. I want to start fishing the Lower Niagara from shore with large streamers and tube flies. The problem is that on the LN there is not a lot of room to backcast and it can be important at times to get your fly out when the water is running clear...

So I ask, does anyone know a good website that details how to perform a one-handed speay cast?

    Thanks!

i dont know of one for one handed spey. however i do have a really good one for spey fishing in the east. the address is www.eastcoastspey.com i recently purchased a spey rod and that is something that you might want to look into if you are going to fish rivers like the lower niagara. there is lots of good info on andrew's website. check it out!

I definitely wil be getting a spey rod, but not this year. The next rod I am getting will be a customer build (by me hopefully) and then I will probably invest in the spey rod.

I fish the Catt all the time so a spey rod would definitely serve me there also!!

i know that the guys on that site do really well when they go fish the catt. i am going to start swinging flies for the steelies in the erie tribs. it looks like they have a ton of fun when the fish grabs thier flies and i have seen some pretty amazing takes.

Yeah, the Catt is a steelhead stream in a league of its own...Unfotunately, it is so tempermental that a lot of the times the weather renders it unfishable

Nice to meet you, I began tying tubes in the last season or two and use some for trout as well. I get a kick out of swinging flies for bigger fish, its quite addictive. Hope to see more from you on the site.
