its hard not to ask so many questions because i am going to the clinic but people are telling me that its hard to indicate strikes even with an indicator but dont worry im not giving up i want my first fish to be on a nymph. Aaron and FK would be proud! haha

Don't worry, you will have an excellent instructor in Aaron.

As far as detecting strikes, when the water is warm (55-65deg), the trout are really active, so a lot of times your indicator will move or go under really fast - it's easy to see. In the winter, the indicator barely moves on a strike.

I think sometimes the water speed helps seeing strikes too. Faster water, more obvious strike. Slow water, gentle strikes.
Standing in moving water circulates the soul and quiets the mind.
