    Little Schuykill 4/1/07

took the drive out to try a new river today. i was impressed with how this one looked. there is lots of structure in the stream. the water was on the higher side. however they must stock the motherload in there. i tried two spots and caught freshly stocked rainbows constantly. it was sort of a nuisance. i will be back there once the water warms and the hatches get started, it must fish awsome during a caddis hatch! really nice stream for nymph fishing and i know they get some really nice fish there up to 23 inches that are either holdover fish or wild.

Hey Master- Do you think this river would be fishing any better this time of year or in the fall?

I would wait till the fall to go. I would imagine that the stream warms up and the fishing gets slow. I caught a couple nice wild fish there. I would say that the river has a very good iso hatch by looking at the bottom. Also like all of the streams in that area I would venture to say that there are also great BWO hatches there as well.... maybe if I am not too busy with guiding we can try it out.

I was on the upper stretches of the Little Schyulkill River today. Beautifully quiet, and just my tracks and some turkey tracks in the snow. Fooled a few wild browns on some weighted nymphs near the confluence of Locust Creek. Great day on the river.
