I fished with Tom last Friday on the SBR. We fished the Gorge and did well on the usual suspects. We actually took far more wild fish than stockers.
We left the gorge and headed to another location. It was quite dead to start. It was a bright sunny day and the air temp was in the high 80s. I fished through a run that holds a great deal of fish with only two to show for my efforts. I saw some fish rising down stream so I rigged up the dry fly rod and went on a tear. The fish were mainly wild brook and brown trout with a few stocker bows in the mix. Tom went back into the same riffle where I didn't do well between 30 and 40 minutes and pounded them good. I have seen this countless times, but I don't think that many guys realize how available food sources can drive fish to feed. The difference here was that there were tons of sulphurs on the water and the hatch got the fish wound up! What a difference a half hour makes!
Here are some photos of the fish....
Gettin' ready...
