    Early season patterns/sizes

Im getting really excited for April 1. Does anyone have any ideas what would be some good patterns to tie for Euro Nymph and/or Dry Dropper nymphing for the early season in small creeks in upstate new york (specifically nine mile). I'm still pretty new at this and any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi mdq,
My suggestions, based on many years of fishing Nine Mile Creek is one fly. I would not go there without it: Olive Scud, about a size 14/16. I grew up fishing Nine Mile, Limestone Creek Carpenters' Brook and Geddas Brook. Of course, I have not fished it in many years, BUT, the scud was so prevalent, there, they must still be around. If possible, a little weight built into the fly will help.

    Good fishing to you!

Perfect, Ill try it. I walked to the waterfall between Marcellus and Camillus yesterday just to take a look at how high the water was but it was gone. There was so much water that it was just a smooth stretch. Crazy!
