It was only a matter of time that they were going to do away with the East Branch of the Paulinskill TCA. There used to be an inflow from the quarry but they stopped pumping water into the stream and therefore the trout were not able to hold over.
I wonder where the next TCA is going to be? I know that there is talk that the Flat Brook is going to have the next one. I don't think that the fly fishermen want to give up the only fly fishing only stretches in the state.
The Year Round TCA on the Musky is a good thing. There are fish that are holding over in there and now there will be protection from the Opening Day onslaught!
The new wild trout designation on the Pequannock will be a good thing as the size limit and creel limits are increased and decreased respectively. Also, I am happy that they did not do away with the Seasonal TCA on that stream, as it provides an opportunity to catch trout before the season opener.
I still think that the Pequest TCA needs to be made year round. What happens to all of those nice rainbows on Opening Day is just downright shameful.
Overall, some very good things are happening. I rememeber when there was only one mile of special regulation trout water here in NJ.
