    NY Non-Res License.

So I thought that this would be the year I would take the plunge and buy a second state license. Then I noticed that the NY non-res price jumped from the 2008-09 price $40 to the new price for 2009-2010 $70. 40% jump seems to be a little much. Does anyone know why beyond greed? I am just curious.

I guess that when you are broke you go to any extreme to try to generate revenue. CT is trying to double the price of all license fees not jus hunting and fishing, but driver's license fees etc as well. Most of us will just suck it up and pay for it. I wish the extra money went for fisheries, but we all know that's highly un-likely.

Here in PA the local conservation officers are always telling me how concerned they are about the lack of sales in licenses. Squeezing the the rock more would seem to increase revenue. Just like taxes, raise them, less comes in. I just don't get it.

Selfishly, I guess it will scare off some of the competition.

Sholgate: to $70 from $40 is a 75 percent increase, and that does seem high. Like Aaron said, CT is contemplating a 100% increase! I don't think this will reduce the number of fishermen, only the number of license-carrying fishermen. There is little or no rules enforcement along our streams.
