    Delaware or Salmon River???

Heading out fishing this Monday and Tuesday (not the Housy for a change). Cannot decide between drifting the mainstem of the Delaware or going to the Salmon River in Pulaski. Any recent reports from either river would be helpful, thanks.

Go to the Salmon River! It's loaded... Fish the lower river. That's where I would be if I had the same choice.

Haven't fished the D in a week or two but friends tell me it's been slow.

The Orvis fishing reports for the Delaware and Salmon Rivers were updated a few days ago - links below:

Looks like there is some kind of algae problem on the West Branch - anybody (NJFred) seen or heard about this?

    Re: Delaware or Salmon River???

Yes... at times this year as in prior years there is a lot of algae in the Upper West Branch No Kill section. Makes nymphing or streaming fishing there a challenge. The report also points out that the reservoir has been turning over leading to lack of clarity. Clarity can be a problem in the fall albeit typically with lower reservoir levels.

The really good news is that we haven't seen huge didymo blooms in the system. It's present pretty much all over now. Having said that most anglers who fish the system agree that it's been in the system for years.

Salmon River would be my choice. This time of year you have huge brown trout, salmon and steelhead in the river.

Salmon seems to be strong now! - the last few days reports were more steelhead than salmon. I hope to go later this week before the Columbus Day crowds.

Although most say you just cant beat the Housy right now?

    Have fun either way!
