    Somerset

Nice to have met you and be able to talk and watch you tie on Saturday. I think this show is not what it used to be---I brought a list of tying materials to buy and frankly I didn't spend a cent. I would say the number of tiers were great but an awful lot of outfitters and some of the local stores from PA and NJ were there. To me the best part of the show was being able to talk with you, BTW my friend was amazed at how fast you tie. Thanks for the info re: Ramsey in February---if the weather doesn't spoil my attempt I will try to make it. BTW what time does your presentation start? 8)

Thanks for the kind words. I had a great time there as well. Talking to the people who passed by was good fun. I was simply amazed at how popular the condom fly was! I can't wait till next year.
The presentation is at 10 am on the 7th. I will also be tying flies afterwards. So stay for that. I will be tying other weighted nymphs that I did not make at Somerset... And of course a few condom flies! Tell your friend that I make them even faster when I am not talking

    Hi Aaron;
Met you & Justin at the show Saturday, watched you tie a condom worm & caddis imitation. Both really well done. Justin gave me one of your DVD's and I was pleasantly suprised to hear something other than church music playing on a trout video! My wife even enjoyed it which is suprising since she typically leaves the room when I play a DVD having anything to do with fly fishing! I didn't realize that the Juniata had such large trout. Man, you guys caught some large fish! Do you ever catch anything small??

    Re: Somerset

We do catch some small fish, but we are always stalking the big ones.

I edited and put together the videos, and I'm thrilled you liked them. YouTube just took a couple down for license infringement, (sorry, we didn't pay the 100,000 for the Van Halen license), so in the future we will probably be using some less well known acts and getting their permission.

Please spread the word, this site is a WEALTH of info and the guys on here are anything but stodgy sleepy fly fisherman, we enjoy the energy and excitement that we think fly fishing should be about.

We noticed at the show that we met MAYBE 5 fishermen under 20, that says something about the sport, and doesn't speak well for it's future in my opinion.

I didn't start until I was 25 and I'm not going to lie, I came into it with the opinion that it was a sport for old men, and that there was most certainly always a church music soundtrack playing.

I think groups like AEG have done a ton to help motivate younger guys to be more aggressive about their productions and that's what the sport needs if it's going to attract a younger audience.

Stepping down off the soap box.

Thanks for the kind words again, we hope this site brings you as much joy as it brings us.

    Cheers,

    Justin

I was going to go a bit softer then that. That kind of music gives me a migraine.

Guster, Dispatch, maybe a little Gabe Dixon Band.

If I can't discern the lyrics, it's probably not making the cut in the editing room.

    Wayne,

I am sorry to say that I never catch anything under 5 pounds.... as long as no one is watching me I continually keep catching monster trout. However, when people are watching the fish seem to shrink in size. I don't know how that happens : I am just excited and very passionate about fly fishing and I hope that shows through in the videos. Also, I want people, especially younger people to see that it is indeed good fun. The proof is there, your wife who usually can't stand to watch this sort of thing was mildly entertained by it!

    Re: Somerset

    awww, thats too bad.
When I was up there (The Little J) I got to fish it for about 3 hours. I had a blast! There were sulphurs everywhere and the trout were going balistic. I personally found that it was more fun than Fishing Creek. Fishing creek was a pain in the butt!

    Re: Somerset

The Little J is surely a great trout stream. It's hard to believe that the stream has been through so many setbacks due to train derailment and ensuing chemical spills. I always get a strange feeling when a train goes by, which happens at least a dozen times in an outing, that this entire fishery can be destroyed at anytime.
