    Streams with "no more fish"

I have to admit, with the cost of gas, I am always looking for new and close places to get my fishing fix. This time of year I generally stay away from the "put and take" streams that most fishermen, especially fly guys, will say that there is nothing left and have been cleaned out. I fished Furnace Run near Robesonia, PA yesterday for about an hour. It is one of those streams. I believe it is stocked twice with Brook, Brown, and Rainbow trout with the last stocking 4/11. In an hour I managed to land two small wild browns and a 14" hold over rainbow. All of which were a very nice surprise.

While I would not dedicate a morning or evening to it this stream, it is neat to see some fish where there are none. This may inspire me to explore some other empty streams.

PS - Tully still pretty good although I do see some trout being taken out every once in a while especially near Red Bridge.

Very rarely do all of the trout get taken out by anglers. Any stream that has good water temps hold some amount of trout over. The only thing that will kill them all are water temps in excess of 80 degrees for a few days.

Also, it makes you better to go to the kill stream abd catch fish after most have been harvested.

very true Aaron. It's rewarding to catch fish in streams that the bait guys have already abandoned and you know that the fish left are the ones they didn't catch or kill. You may not catch as many fish as on Spring Creek, Farmington or any other waters highly populated with fish. I'll take catching only a couple of fish and have the whole stream to myself any day-not that I'm against fishing pressure b/c I think to some degree it helps protect the streams too.

At least with me, I think it also helps me to become a bit more selective with casts, where I chose to cast, and when to move on. I guess over-all bit better reader of the water.

    PART II

Since my last log in I fished Hammer Creek in Lancaster Co. I was in the sections upstream of the Fish and Boat Com. lake. Nothing. Just many families walking up and down the stream trying to see the little fish. Oh well, nothing lost. Neat section probably around March.
