Re: Round Bead Cross-Reference to Hook Size
I asume this is for metal beads?
Are the hook barbs pinched down or not?
Thanks for the chart, a handy reference for the bench.

Re: Round Bead Cross-Reference to Hook Size
For round metal beads, not glass or tungsten. I bend all my barbs down. If you employ the right hook model, the bead should always slide on easily.
Re: Round Bead Cross-Reference to Hook Size
Modern beads slide easily on most hooks unless you grossly mismatch them. Almost all are countersunk now, with one side having a larger hole that you thread toward the hook when you slide it on. If anything, I tend to undersize my beads nowadays, to make the weight less and keep the bead more in line with the size of the head or thorax of the natural it imitates. Going a little smaller usually isn't a problem, going too big sometimes is, especially if the hook has a sproat bend.
