Re: Stop and smell the roses
Those red roots are always pretty to see. Often times on smaller creeks rainbows use those roots as cover as they blend right in. They become invisible as they sit amongst the roots, it is fascinating, they totally blend in.

Let that one marinate... ;)

Great quote Troutastic- Thank You

What kind of plants have those roots? That fog on the water is so nice to look at. That's my favorite part of guiding on the Farmington. When I drive down the river and see the fog, the anticipation builds as I make my way to upcountry to meet the clients. There is something so peaceful yet inciting about fly fishing and fog on a stream.
Re: Stop and smell the roses
I do not know what kind of plants make those red roots. I was hoping someone on the site could tell me. Aaron- I am going to buy a new waterproof camera . What is your recommendation. You are batting 1000 on gear recommendations so far
Re: Stop and smell the roses
wwelz, I know you asked Aaron, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in now. A couple of my friends and I (about 7 or 8 altogether) have the Olympus cameras. They work really well, and I have put mine through some precarious conditions. Those also seem to be the ones that I see most often on the river when people are taking pictures.
Aaron, I hear you with the fog. I was with a group on the WB 2 weeks ago and the fog would keep rolling in for the first 2 hours or so. There was something truly calming and mysterious about the whole thing.

That's what Aaron has and I also recommend it for a point and shoot. It has superior picture color, contrast, video quality to the olympus series. I really want one myself.
Re: Stop and smell the roses
Thanks Guys for the feedback on the Camera
Re: Stop and smell the roses
What trees have red roots? I live on a trout stream in Michigan, and there's a tree with red roots not far from here. It's a large willow of some kind.
It overhangs a run with cooperative fish, and the branches love to grab errant casts. Willows are a close second to grape vines; you can never pull free. You either have to wade over to untangle the mess (and spook the fish), or just swear and break it off.

Sweet camera Juice! I just checked it out. I didn't even know that Panasonic made a waterproof camera. My girlfriend has a Panasonic and always gets complemented on the pictures it takes. The Leica lenses make it a steal. I think I just found a new item for the wish list...
