Got it, awesome pattern. What type of dubbing is Aaron using though? Was it the SLF Dave Whitlock Squirrel dubbing, cause its not listed on the materials list in the beginning...

It's the DW Squirrel Dubbing in gray. The spiky dubbing creates a nice webby effect when touch dubbed or dubbed loosly.
Re: Alain Barthelemy's Woven Stonefly - December 2009 TPO Fly of the Month
I'm having a problem when I squeeze the lead wire, it tends to loose its adherence to the hook shank. Couple this with the increased rotational leverage because the sides are now sticking out like a pair of love handles, My fly is now an "Alain's swivel bodied swan song stone fly." Lol! Kidding aside, What can I do to correct this? I know its an effective stone fly imitation. Alain also does it in black which also is a good pattern and catches lots of fish!
Re: Alain Barthelemy's Woven Stonefly - December 2009 TPO Fly of the Month
you're probably just squeezing the lead too much - just gentle pressure to take it "out of round".

What would be a comparable hook to the Skalka streamer? Is that a typical size hook or a 2x long shank etc?

Usually if you look at the websites for ordering tying supplies they have a little description of what each hook is used for. I would just find a big streamer/nymph hook, should work alright as well.

At the top of the page, on the right side, there is a box with the following text: Search...
If you enter the terms "hook comparison" in that box (and hit enter), one of the threads that comes up is this: http://troutpredator.info/fly-tying-...6540/#msg26540

Thanks for the help guys.

A Tiemco 5263 would be my first choice for a substitute hook for this fly.

Magnet,
I was having the same problem with the body turning. As soon as I added a thread base under the lead it stopped. Hope this helps.
