Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
Here is the link to the report, it's updated daily and is as accurate & honest a description as you will ever find on any fishery- they tell it like it is, good or bad. The report applies only to the lower part of the river that they own, and the mid & upper river may fish entirely different than Douglaston does on any given day though, so keep that in mind. And fishing & conditions can change markedly on anadromous fisheries like this from day to day with the movement of fish, so be aware of that also.

I will cut & past the report on this thread from time to time for those of you too lazy to click on the link! Lol.

Re: Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
I spoke to my friend Kevin today. He said it's most likely going to get higher! I hope it's at this level or 1,000 cfs or so. I just don't want to see 2,000 + cfs.
There are lots of fish but with the leaves and debris its tough to get them.

Re: Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
Hey,
I'm heading to the Salmon for my first ever trip Saturday. Any opinions as to where to start. Is the DSR a better jumping off point vs the UFZ or LFZ? Are Orwell and Trout brooks a better place to start? Would the brooks be lower than the main river? Thanks for any help. Frogge.
Re: Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
I stay out of the brooks because of the spot em got em snagging that goes on there. I know that the fly zones are holding the largest concentrations. Fish can be found throughout the entire river right now. There have been some really good pushes of fish according to some of my good friends. Just think... The fish are running up that heavy current trying to get to the dam or the hatchery for the most part. They hold in areas that will enable them to relax for a bit before moving again. Fish seams and tailouts of pools especially after heavy water.

Hey,
Thanks, I'll let you know how I do. Frogge.

Re: Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
I have one thing to say about the report for the DSR. Its a little sispect. The day that I was there it said that the fishing was excellent in the Glide, with everyone having multiple hookups. I hooked 8or so. Justin hooked 1. I saw a CP guy hook 2. In my book that's not excellent. Everyone whacking them constitutes excellent fishing. Mind you, there were about 12-13 people fishing there!
Re: Salmon River Report from Douglaston Salmon Run
November 11th 6:44a.m- Fishing started out good yesterday morning and then tapered off as the day progressed. Part of the slower afternoon reports were also due to freezing temps , high winds and hail that drove some anglers home early. The water is still @ 750cfs and skies are overcast. Today should prove to be another good steelhead day on the run.
NOTE: Due to a high amount of requests to be open from 6a.m until 5:30 pm we will be opening at 6a starting today 11-8 and closing at 5:30p.m. We thank everyone for their input on this subject and we are happy to make the change.

11/20/08 Report:
November 20th 6:26a.m-The fishing has still been good on the run. With the colder water temps the fish are starting to settle in to the pools and deeper runs. The bite is a bit slower as well but persistent anglers are still catching plenty of fish. Smaller egg sacs and small egg flies and stonefly pattersn are working well.
NOTE: Starting 11-21-08 we will start opening at 7a.m and closing the gates at 5:30p.m. The days are now getting shorter and colder. For safety reasons we want anglers to access the water with some day light throughout the winter.
