TMAs - insects, before the rain
Took a quick jaunt this morning, mostly to look around and catch a few bass.
Started at the Farmington, and measured 69 deg water temp. I measured the temperature in the shade in fast water at 7am. I would think that this afternoon, temps will reach mid 70s. Lots of these insects (golden stoneflies) around, it's a pity the water isn't colder!

I saw a couple of splashy rises from small fish and people were fishing per usual.
Headed west to Cornwall, and measured 73 deg mid-morning. Some of the trout have moved back in to the refuges. Look at this big brown (24in) in the refuge, poor thing, blind in both eyes and very dark:

I don't think this fish will survive for much longer.
Rigged up the 6wt and sinking line to fish bass. Caught six between 8-11in on olive/black bugger.
Lots of these insects (isonychia) around today:

Nutman,
Have things changed for the better?
FK,
Where have you been? Ready for the upcoming fall season?
Re: TMAs - insects, before the rain
FK:
I have an 8MP Canon PowerShot SX100IS. The built-in macro does a great job. Thanks for the compliments.
Re: TMAs - insects, before the rain
Aaron,
Absolutely buried at work, I should be clear by end of Sept. I still have 4+ weeks vacation time that I cannot schedule.
The project I am working on will ship to India and another group takes over installation.
Alanb,
Still considering the Pentax W60 camera, most likely next week order.

Waterproof and most importantly,,,, the macro feature.
If I fall in with a Canon Powershoot SX, it is an instant paper weight.
Regards,
FK
Re: TMAs - insects, before the rain
FK,
Watch out with that camera. I have dropped the last three and the LCD screen has shattered. Be careful as the camera is not shockproof. I k Olympus makes one that is shockproof as well as waterproof, which would be ideal.
Re: TMAs - insects, before the rain
You may recall I had the Pentax Optio before the Canon and it was great (until I lost it!) Since then, I have found that cameras with lenses external to the body take better pictures. With the Pentax, I never found the underwater pictures to be that useful, but it was nice to have the camera mid-stream or in the rain and not worry. The Canon also uses AA batteries which is convenient.
