Stony Ck 6/14 and Northkill Ck 6/14
I have been in search of the 12" Native Brook Trout. I have given lip piercings and have taken pictures of many of his 4-9" brothers. Oh boy, has it been a blast. Stony Crk in the greater Harrisburg Area was a wash. Looking at PSGL maps, it looked like a perfect stream for brookies. It was beautiful and quiet and I couldn't believe I was the only fisherman. I caught many creek chubs and small suckers but no trout. Later that night I read in one of my PA Flyfishing books that mine drain had killed most of the trout. But with the heat, it was a nice swim, I mean wade. (My feet were knumb.)
The head waters of the mighty Northkill Ck (Berks Co.) I did find some beautiful natives. Very spooky but many fish. I only fooled 3, but saw many darting everywhere as I stumbled through the stream.
I really do enjoy the Tully in my back yard (actually about 3 miles away) but checking out may of the streams that don't make the books has been both a challenge and joy. And wow, have I seen some beautiful things.
