Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
As part of the growing TPO community you are cordially invited to our first annual TPO members gathering. Our event will take place at the Frost Valley YMCA Preserve in the Catskills on Saturday June 26th. Frost Valley is located in Claryville New York and will provide us an opportunity to fish 8 miles of private water of the historic Neversink River which is the birth place of American fly fishing.
This will be a great opportunity to meet face to face with quite a few experts and all the great people you have already met online.
The itinerary will include:
Continental breakfast upon arrival (meet and greet)
Frost valley staff will familiarize us with the fly fishing preserve and provide us with maps of the river and surrounding areas. They will also give us a quick talk on didimo prevention and demonstrate the use of their wader cleaning stations.
The Hardy representatives will provide us an opportunity to check out their latest equipment and demo their rods.
Davy Wotton original flies will be on display and available for purchase.
Likely Clinicians will Include:
Mike Foreman- formerly of Cortland Line Company- fly line presentation on purchasing and maintaing your fly line.
Richard Ross- Traditional catskill dry fly tying demonstration
Aaron Jasper- Power point presentation on Euro-Nymphing
A hot luncheon will be prepared and available for purchase. Served by Frost Valley.
At this point we will enjoy the fishing. If you choose to bring your significant others there are wonderful hiking opportunities as well on the property.
The cost for the day is $45.00 per person.
Upon arrival, we will provide detailed maps of each valley that show fishing holes and property boundaries.
PLEASE COME FOR A GREAT DAY OF FISHING WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS FROM TPO. HELP SUPPORT THE SITE AND OUR COMMUNITY!

Re: Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
That sounds like a nice time...I have a place 1/2 hour from there and have fished Frost Valley, some of the cleanest water in the Catskills flowing through those streams.
I think I would like to attend, this sounds great! CJ

John,
It would be great if you came!
Re: Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
Sounds like a great way to spend the day. Kind of far for me though. Anyone from SE PA want to carpool?
Re: Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
It's only 3 hours. Make a weekend of it. The catskills are a great place to spend the weekend fishing.
I sent out an email announcing this and only one person signed up so far.
Any feedback on why there is such little interest. Maybe I can do something about it.
Justin

I think it's a great idea, but I think some folks may think it's a bit expensive?
Re: Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
It's 25 for access to the YMCA's 8 miles of private river and we have to compensate Aaron for his time. If we have 20 people that's 15 pp, which leaves us 5 bucks for incidentals. We won't even make a thin dime on the event. I don't see how 45 bucks is expensive and I'm not quite sure how to provide the quality private access and relevant/quality speakers for less money.
Any suggestions?

Boy this is a touchy subject and I should keep my big mouth closed ..... What about checks? do you take checks? Can people pay when they show up? Is it 25 bucks per person to fish for 1/2 day?
Re: Trout Predator Online First Annual Gathering - June 26th
Frost Valley YMCA has 6000 acres. They offer a variety of memberships including hunting and also fly fishing memberships. As Justin has mentioned in his mass email, they offer 6 to 8 miles of private water on the head waters of the Neversink river. TPO had been able to get a discounted day rate for its members. The normal day usage rate is $50.00. Frost valley is willing to do that so potential future members can see what they offer first hand. Their fly fishing membership annual rate is $300.00 for an individual if anyone is interested. They offer on site camping and cabins as well as hotel style accommodations. It's a chance to fish a pristine and remote historic river as well as get together and have some fun. They have a cafeteria where they will serve us a prepared hot lunch. Think it will be a fun day for those who decide to attend.
